Scheduled Maintenance Advisory

Compass and Howdy will be unavailable on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 7:00am until approximately 1:00pm for maintenance.

 

Changes being implemented on Advisor Dashboard in Howdy

Based on feedback from the advising community, changes have been made to the Advisor Dashboard on the Advising tab in Howdy.  These changes will be in effect after the maintenance performed on Saturday, April 7.

Once a term is selected and the ID or first name/last name has been entered and submitted, a list of students is displayed.   Each student has information listed including whether they currently have holds, their class, major, program, date of birth and gender.

The student’s name is a link, and once a user clicks on it, a “student dashboard” is displayed.  This page displays immediately from the Advisor Dashboard if only one student meets the search criteria.  

Once one of the links are accessed, such as Registration History in the example below, a user is able to either return to that student’s information by clicking on their name at the top right, or begin a new student search by selecting the “Change Student” link at the top right.

 

New information added to Class Search results in Howdy

Several changes have been made to the Class Search in Howdy.   A “Restrictions” link appears under the course name as shown below.  This links to any restrictions placed on the class.   A second change is that the Subject is now a link which takes a user to the course catalog entry for each course.

 

Syllabi upload available for graduate courses

Based on requests from instructors, they will have the option to upload syllabi in Howdy for graduate courses after the maintenance is performed on Saturday, April 7.  Syllabi will be available to students in Howdy, but will not be seen in the public Class Search.  Instructions on how to upload syllabi can be found on the Learn About Faculty/Teaching Tab channel on the Faculty/Teach tab in Howdy.
