Compass System June 2010 Update
Online Syllabus and Curriculum Vitae requirement for undergraduate classes
The Texas Legislature enacted HB 2504 in June 2009. This bill requires the university to provide the following information to the public: 1) a curriculum vitae (CV) for each instructor 2) a syllabus for each class and 3) departmental budget information (which will be provided by FAMIS). This information must be provided for all undergraduate classes within a week of the first class day of the fall 2010 semester.
Individuals such as staff or teaching assistants can be designated on the SWASECT form in Compass to have the ability to upload the information for specific classes.
Training guides are under development, and demonstration sessions are scheduled for Monday, July 26 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., and Monday, August 16 from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m., both held in the General Services Complex Room 101A. The ability to upload the CV and syllabi will be available in Howdy approximately August 1.
First Summer Session grading period runs July 2 through noon July 8
Final grading for 2010 First Summer Session and certain intrasession courses* will begin on Friday, July 2 at 8:00am. The deadline to submit grades is noon on Thursday, July 8.
The final grade entry form is accessed from the class roster by clicking on any of the "Enter" links under the "Final" column located on the right side of the roster.
Please contact the Records Section of the Office of the Registrar at (979)845-1003 or records@tamu.edu if you have any questions. Galveston instructors may contact (409)740-4416 for assistance.
*Intrasession courses ending by July 5th will be graded during this period. Intrasession courses ending after July 5th will be graded during 10-Week and Second Summer Session grading.
KINE grade type changes
Students are now able to change the grade type for their summer session KINE 198 and 199 courses on Howdy. After logging in to Howdy, the student should go to the My Record tab. In the Registration channel is a link called "Change KINE 198/199 Grade Type." The KINE 198/199 grade type change function is active during the Q drop period of a given semester only. Grade type changes during preregistration and drop/add should take place in the registration system.
