New Search by CRNs and/or Keywords Added

In Howdy, two new search criteria have been added to the Browse Classes or Class Schedule Search.

Search by CRNs/Keywords (OR) has been added to the Basic Search.  Users may enter CRNs or Keywords to search for sections.

This any search uses OR logic when multiple CRNs or keywords are entered into the field.  In order to be found in the search, a section may contain any of the CRNs or keywords that are entered.  In the example below, three CRNs and the keyword, UWRT, have been entered.  This search returns 774 sections that include any of the CRNs or keywords.

CRNs / Keywords (OR) – Any Search:

Search by CRNs / Keywords (AND) has been added to the Advanced Search.  Users may enter CRNs or keywords to search for sections.

This all search uses AND logic when multiple CRNs or keywords are entered into the field.  In order to be found in the search, a section must contain all of the CRNs or keywords that are entered into this search criteria.

In the example below, the keywords, BIOL and OPEN, have been entered.  This search returns 23 sections that include both keywords.

CRNs / Keywords (AND) – All Search:

CRNs / Keywords (AND) – All Search Results:

The two new search criteria use the following fields/information:
  • Subject Code
  • Subject Description
  • Class Title
  • Class Description
  • Degree Program Attribute Codes
  • Degree Program Attribute Descriptions
  • Course Number
  • Subject Code Plus Course Number (such as MATH141)
  •

Please note that the CRNs and Keywords should be separated by a space, comma, period, colon, or semi-colon.  Use of other special characters as separators may cause the search to fail.
