Student Profile Degree Progress Enhancements

A new Degree Progress panel is now available for advisors in the Student Profile within Howdy.  A Time to Degree graph shows the number of hours that apply to the student’s degree (both completed and in-progress registered hours).  A Howdy degree evaluation is run to determine the hours that apply to the degree.

The graph will be colored green, yellow or red based on completed and in-progress registered hours that count towards their degree compared to the target hours they should have completed/registered for to receive their degree on time.

For example, a student starting in fall 2018 has a target of completing 30 hours towards their degree by the end of the spring 2019 term for a 120-hour, four-year degree.  The colors will be displayed based on the following logic:

  1. The graph will be green if a student has completed/registered for 100% or more of the target number of hours.  If a student completed/registered for 31 hours towards their degree in this example, the graph will be green since the target of 30 hours was exceeded.
  2. The graph will be yellow if a student has completed/registered for more than 80% and less than 100% of their target hours.  If a student completed/registered for 28 hours towards their degree in this example, the graph will be yellow.
  3. The graph will be red if a student has completed/registered for less than 80% of their target hours.  If a student has completed 9 hours towards their degree in this example, the graph will be red.
  4. If a student does not have any hours at Texas A&M University including transfer hours, then a zero (0) will be displayed without a horizontal bar.

The Details section below the graph includes text clarifying the purpose of the graph.  The Summary section below the graph has information such as the student’s program and hours not applied to their degree.

The Time to Degree graph is currently available to advisors and will be available for students on Tuesday, May 14.  Additional graphs are in development and another message will be sent in the future when additional functionality is available.
