HSC Student Information System Integration

Significant effort is underway to integrate the HSC’s stuedent information system into Compass during 2014.  HSC person data, including addresses and phone numbers, will be converted into Compass during the week of February 10.  You will also begin to see HSC values such as level, department or major in Compass validation drop-downs.

All processing of HSC students for the spring 2014 and summer 2014 terms will continue in the HSC system.  All processing for fall 2014 and beyond will occur in Compass.  Financial aid processing will begin in March, and HSC students will register in Howdy for fall 2014 courses.  They will continue to use myHSC for summer 2014 registration.

Compass Reporting classes offered

EIS will be conducting several classes in the spring which will allow users to create reports from some Compass Admissions and Records data using the ARGOS reporting tool.

Refresher Report Training – April 4, 2014, (8:30am – 11:30am – Session I or 1:30pm – 4:30pm – Session II):  This training is designed to refresh an existing Argos user with the Argos Reporting tool and data.  This class will get you back up to speed on creating datablocks and reports for most of your reporting needs.  Class size is limited to 18 and has a prerequisite of Beginner Report Training.

Beginner Report Training – April 11, 2014 (8:30am – 4:30pm):  This training is designed for the person with little or no technical background in SQL Programming.   We will move at a slower pace and attempt to explain concepts in more detail to help the class better understand the Argos Reporting tool and data.  By the end of the training session, the user will be able to create datablocks and reports that will be the building blocks for most reporting needs. Class size is limited to 18.

The attached brochure provides additional information regarding the ARGOS reporting tool.   If you are interested in attending, please send an email by March 26 to eis-security@tamu.edu.
