Compass Work Requests
Background
Texas A&M wants to limit, to the greatest extent possible, modifications to the baseline Compass systems. In addition, Texas A&M would like to use the baseline Compass processes whenever possible.
All Compass work requests will be reviewed and evaluated by the EIS Steering Committee and the EIS Executive Committee with major issues escalated to the EIS Council. Approval/reject decisions will be made by the EIS Executive Committee.
Review Process for Requests to Modify/Enhance Compass
- All requests that require programming effort for the Compass student system must be made in writing to the EIS Associate Director & Technical Lead. Example requests include customizations to Compass due to a gap (should be kept to a minimum), new reports that must be developed, and enhancements to Compass.
- The work request must include the reason for the request and the impact (both fiscal and legal) of not completing the request including the alternative processes that will be required.
- The EIS technical team will review the request and provide to the EIS Steering Committee an estimate of the effort required to complete the work request.
- The EIS Steering Committee will review the request at their monthly meeting. They will either forward the request to the EIS Executive Committee with a recommendation to approve or they will reject the request.
- The EIS Executive Committee will review the work request and escalate to the EIS Council, if necessary. Upon completion of their evaluation, the EIS Executive Committee will approve or reject the work request and notify the requestor.
- Work requests that are approved by the EIS Executive Committee will be forwarded to the EIS technical staff for detailed analysis and implementation.
- All requests must be submitted using the Compass Work Request Form Word document or the fillable PDF version.
