Compass ID Requests
The new Compass student information system is being launched in phases through late 2009. Departmental supervisors will notify their employees when the time is appropriate for them to take Compass training and receive Compass accounts. In most cases, training will begin approximately eight weeks in advance of an office Go-Live in using Compass.
Faculty and staff who currently have SIMS accounts will not automatically receive Compass accounts. The procedure for requesting Compass accounts will be very similar to the one now used for SIMS accounts, involving completion of a request form that is signed by designated college deans, department heads, or others identified to issue permission. Account requests will be initiated and funneled through your department or college Primary Authorizing Agent (PAA).
Faculty and staff who anticipate obtaining Compass accounts can prepare by taking the following steps:
1) Know your UIN, NetID, and NetID password. All are required to access Compass. For questions, contact Help Desk Central at 979.845.8300 or helpdesk@tamu.edu.
2) Familiarize yourself with the Howdy web portal at https://howdy.tamu.edu. You will access Compass by logging in to the portal.
3) Take FERPA training. Use your UIN to log in to SSO at https://sso.tamu.edu, click "HR Connect," click "Training," open the "Alphabetical Master Course List" at the top, select and complete the course titled, FERPA. Employees must complete this course before receiving a Compass account.
If you have questions about Compass IDs, call the EIS and SIMS project office help desk at 979.845.0698 during regular business hours.
