Acquiring a Compass Account and Attending Training

The following sections are available regarding Compass Accounts:

Acquire an Account

To obtain a Compass Account, the following steps must be taken:

1) Complete the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training: All Texas A&M employees must complete this training which can be found online at https://sso.tamus.edu. Once logged in to TrainTraq, click "Course Catalog" at the top of the browser and enter "FERPA" for the course name and complete the course.

2) Request a Compass Account: Once the FERPA course is completed, your Primary Authorizing Agent (PAA) will fill out a Compass Account Request Form and send it to the EIS Security and Training Team.  The PAA will request the correct forms to which you will have access based on your job duties. When EIS receives the form, the TrainTraq database will be accessed to confirm the user has completed the FERPA training. If it has been completed, EIS will send you an email asigning you the Introductory Compass Navigation class which is also located in TrainTraq. The Introductory Compass Navigation training course number is 2111755. If the FERPA training has not been completed, EIS will send you an email and copy your PAA, telling you the training must be completed in order to be assigned the Introductory Compass Navigation class. The FERPA training documentation will still be required to be attached to the Compass Account Request Form for any potential account holder who cannot access HR Connect.

3) Complete the online Introductory Compass Navigation:  Once you complete the online Introductory Compass Navigation Class, you will receive your Compass account.

Note: If you have never taken classes through Employee Development, you will need to create a profile prior to being able to register for the training.  Under the TAMU Employee heading, click on New User and follow the instructions.
